last nights lecture

I think last nights lecture was very informative as far as the theories that were covered. The one I liked the most is Rosenblatt. I think that what she infers about reading and the outside influences make alot of sense. I feel that what one know about the world is how he or she will then interpret what is being read. Not everyone has the same upbringing or the exact same prior knowledge as to interpert what is being read so the reading may not have the same meaning. Little things like defining the words may be seen differently so the student who is reading might get a different interpretaion. Overall everything was very interesting.

  1. Okay who is Princess Vesper? I am trying to get in the system and to get my address correctly. I have a comment on Rosenblatt I think her transactional theory is interesting. I am going to write a paper on her for my next class and I am excited on what I am going to learn about her.

  2. I'd have to agree on the Rosenblatt theory. I feel very strongly that education, especially, reading doesn't begin when the children enter the doors to the school. They are educated by everything around them, they get outside influences from evrything they see, hear and touch. A number of parents realize that THEY are the first teachers in their children's lives but others need to be reminded of that fact. Exposure is what opens a child's eyes to the world, it's words and what it has to offer.
