the rest of chapter 2
First let me say quiz??? j/k....I wish I knew what it was on, hopefully just the reading. Anyways....So we are at the end of chapter 2 now and the first thing is that I didn't know that there were so many components to reading comprehension. I think that trying to diagnos a reading disability would be hard and time consuming. I also think that if teachers don't take the time to do so would be the reason so many kids get lost in the shuffle. Advancing them to the next grade and the next doesn't do anything but make them feel lost. So unfair. I know that if we lived in a perfect world things might be different but unfourtunaly we don't. It is up to us a teachers and parents to make the effort and not give up on our kids. Reading is the foundation for everyone....disability or not. We must make the effort to help.

last nights lecture
I think last nights lecture was very informative as far as the theories that were covered. The one I liked the most is Rosenblatt. I think that what she infers about reading and the outside influences make alot of sense. I feel that what one know about the world is how he or she will then interpret what is being read. Not everyone has the same upbringing or the exact same prior knowledge as to interpert what is being read so the reading may not have the same meaning. Little things like defining the words may be seen differently so the student who is reading might get a different interpretaion. Overall everything was very interesting.
